Refer a friend to Rubbing Pixels and save

by The Editor September 10th, 2010

Rubbing Pixels now has the feature for Members where they can refer a friend to the site and if that friend joins they will currently get 20% off their subscription joining cost and the member referring them will also currently get 20% off their Rubbing Pixels renewal. The percentage is accumulative as well so if you refer 5 friends in your subscription time you will get to 100% and your renewal is free. These ad boxes are throughout the site and a link with this feature can also be found in the “Your Account” section of the site which will also tell you how many people have taken up your offer and also the % you will receive off your renewal.

The system works by entering in your friends name and email address (none of which is stored or collected on our system) into the referral section and they are sent an email outlining deal and also a special link that does all the hard work, all they have to do is join when they want.

Give it a try and refer someone it is a pretty cool system.

Even more fantastic features and services are coming soon as well.

New Messaging System and Tutorial Notifications

by The Editor September 9th, 2010

A few new upgrades have been added to the Rubbing Pixels website. First is the new notification system. When going to the site now you will see in yellow a message. These messages will be posted from time to time and can be targeted to general site visitors, logged in guests, members or all of them.

The idea of the system is to keep people immediately informed of important information, new features, special offers and deals etc. To remove the message you just click on the X at the top right and you wont be troubled by it again, until a new message is added. This system will not tell you when new tutorials are added to the site. Which brings me to the next update…

The second update is to let site visitors (members or guests) who are logged in know how many new tutorials have been added to the site since they where last logged in. This feature is seen in the “Your Account box” at the top of the site and if you click on the link it will take you to a page that will list the new tutorials added.

More new cool features to come… so stay tuned.

New tutorial categories and how to find them

by The Editor August 7th, 2010

A new update has been added to the Rubbing Pixels site allowing us to add additional categories to the tutorials section. To find them you can click on the “Tutorials” title in the navigation bar or in the categories bar you will now see a couple of orange “»”. Clicking on these will take you to the “Tutorials” page as well and it also indicates that there are more categories available than what is being displayed.

At the moment the new category created is “Photoshop Elements” where all tutorials relating to this program will now live here. New categories are coming and when added will appear in this area and you will be notified via the news section of the site.

Rubbing Pixel Upgrades

by The Editor August 1st, 2010

Since the soft launch of the Rubbing Pixels website in February 2010 we have been gradually upgrading the website with new features and also stuff behind the scenes that makes the site run smoother preparing it for it’s official launch in national magazines that will commence in Nov / Dec 2010 and to make it a better site overall for those who are already members and guests.

Over the coming months you will see some changes to the site in terms of some layout and new features:

1. The introduction of “Members Only” tutorials that will be rolled out once it is implemented. This should be done in a matter of days and you will see the bulk of the tutorials mentioned in the July release uploaded this week, for those wondering .. “Where the hell are they” they will be accessed just like any other tutorial for members but not available for purchase by guests.

2. The site for members and guests will include notifications of new tutorials that have been added since you last logged in.

3. Special member notifications when you log in and also for those just visiting the site as well.

4. Several new tutorial category’s will also be created.

Along with some general behind the scenes changes / upgrades and on site functionality tweaks.

So stay tuned.. sign up for the sites newsletter as any special offers for the site will be advertised in here for those willing to be part of the site and the Rubbing Pixels Community of Landscape Photographers.

Feel free to send us feedback through our contact page on any features you would like to see done to make your experience on the site even better.
